Better Streets Northern Beaches

Better Streets Northern Beaches advocates for the rollout of great bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure from Palm Beach to Manly.

The Northern Beaches is blessed with so much beauty. We believe that our streets should be safe, accessible, vibrant, and enjoyable so that everyone can enjoy our Northern Beaches.

Better Streets Northern Beaches is campaigning and working with Northern Beaches Council to improve the streets we care about - from street crossings, to bike infrastructure, street trees, and more.

    • They’re safer with comfortable spaces to walk, scoot, bike, or drive; with a quiet, low-speed, low-traffic atmosphere. Great streets feel easy to use.

    • They’re healthier by making it easier and more natural to walk, wheel or ride for short journeys. Children use great streets to play, stay active and move around easily. Better Streets get your body moving.

    • They’re more enjoyable by offering shade, greenery, seating, shops and cafes, without the constant roar of traffic or the danger of collisions. Great streets are welcoming public spaces, open to everyone.

    • They’re important for Climate Action by promoting a real change in how we use transport, making it easier for more people to embrace zero-carbon mobility options. Changing the world starts by making our streets better.

  • Better Streets Northern Beaches asks the Northern Beaches Council to invest in walking, biking, trees, and place making, to:

    • Encourage kids to walk, scoot or bike to school

    • Enable seniors to access local shops without needing to drive

    • Deliver streets that are beautiful places for people to meet and socialise.

We call on Northern Beaches Council to:

    • Support 30 km/h for residential streets and our town centres.

    • Build a cohesive network of protected bike lanes as envisaged in the Northern Beaches bike plan.

    • Deliver amenity and public domain upgrades in our town centres like envisaged in My Place: Manly.

    • Preserve our existing street trees and plant new ones to expand our canopy coverage.

  • Better Streets Northern Beaches posts frequent updates, and may be contacted at our Facebook Page.
